United Pet Group has expanded the recall of its Pro-Pet® Adult Daily Vitamin Supplement tablets for dogs. The entire list of recalled products can be found in the table below as provided by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which is aware of the recall. The expanded recall was issued on July 2, 2010.
The recall was expanded to possible contamination of these additional products with Salmonella bacteria and include a wide variety of United Pet Group Pro-Pet® and Excel® brands for both dogs and cats. The products in question include expiration dates ranging from “1/2013” and “06/2013.”
The recalled items were sold at retailers nationwide in tablet and powder form.
Salmonella infection in animals and humans can cause fever, diarrhea, and stomach pain, and these symptoms should be treated immediately. If consumers purchased the product, they should contact United Pet Group at 1-877-399-5226 or the retailer for further directions. To lodge a complaint with the FDA, they should contact a consumer complaint coordinator in their area.
