Norwegian Forest Cats have a thick, fluffy coat and beautiful bright green eyes. Their eyes can also be seen in a gold or a copper color.  Its double coat varies in length according to the time of year. In the spring, the winter coat sheds and in the fall it does the same. The coat stays extra fluffy around the neck area. Their tails are also covered in a lot of hair. They have a triangular-shaped head with a sweet facial expression. They have large round paws with heavy tufting between the toes. They are found in a variety of different colors and patterns including tabby, patched tabby, solid and tortoiseshell. They weigh anywhere from 7 to 20 pounds.

Personality

Known for being good with children and other pets, Norwegian Forest Cats are very intelligent. They enjoy climbing and are very smart. Not easily stressed, they adapt to change more than many other breeds of cats. They love to climb up high, so they will appreciate having a cat tree where they can perch themselves. Natural athletes, they love to jump on counters, bookcases and high places.

  • Despite its feral appearance, the Norwegian Forest Cat is not descended from any wild cat species.
